Lisa — I really appreciate this kind of response. Your question is such a solid way to continue the conversation. Thank you. I actually don’t have a concrete answer for you because it kind of depends. For example, I have 3 overarching categories that I try to make definitive for my identity and they are all quite general (writing and creating, relationship with my spouse, and my community work). But then I have specific lists of things that I want to focus on that fall under that. Then I have current list of things that need to be done for those categories. So it is kind of a mixed bag. Overall, I have several people who keep me true to what I’ve declared and maintain conversation with them as my focus evolves through various seasons. I’ve found it beneficial to have my “few things” be broader categories, but as I hope comes through in the writing, there isn’t a set way to do it — though there is a more concrete way to realize when you aren’t doing it. Hope this answers your question. I’d love to hear more about how you approach this. Again, I appreciate your response.
