I don't disagree (at least, I don't think I do) with your point. This article, however, was simply written for an audience who might not (or tends not) to read the the parable with that effect. The main thrust of the content was using Luke 10 as an example of particular approaches to Biblical interpretation.

Dissecting the parables is something I've done elsewhere. I'm not 100% sure what you mean by one-upping scholarship and dismissing others, but I am simply trying to engage with current scholarship and mainstream perspective.

I will say, I appreciate the nuance with which you seem to grasp this text. I just don't think it is normal (at least in contemporary Christian circles that I often witness) and so I wanted to make sure this take was heard.
