Would you say that the inherent problem with religion (and most ideological constructs) is that they rely on (or purport) certainty that is epistemologically impossible?

Only contention I had in the whole article was that - as someone who has studied a lot about Christianity - the whole notion of "hell" (especially as it is talked about by contemporary, American, conservative Christians) is a very small contingent within Christian theology and Christian tradition. There's even an argument that what is called 'dispensationalism' (disembodied afterlife in either heaven or hell) did not become a concept until around the Great Schism.
