I appreciate this comment. I did try to point out that reality in a paragraph, but it might not have been explicit enough or might have been overlooked.
I have lived in that reality myself, but I still felt there was a lot of “no” to be said — mostly to cultural expectations because my “yes’s” were already defined by what I need to do to provide for my household. It is important to realize that even people with these circumstances of birth only have limited time and energy. This is where I get frustrated when people get upset when a “lower class” individual does something for themselves (buys an expensive ingredient with welfare money, takes time off, etc). For wealthy folks, they call it “self-care” but from non-wealthy folks, they call it laziness.
