Absolutely. If this is true, though, we still have to be conscious of the effects of our words based on the shared meaning people have with them. But it, also, isn’t just true of supposed “curse” words — lots of words can have those effects.

One of the issues I find with curse words is that we make them taboo, even if they could communicate something positive, while allowing other words to be used in destructive ways, but that are socially acceptable.
